Review workshop completed

The project completed its progress review workshop in the premises of Myagde Rural Municipality (RM), Tanahun on 26 August 2026. The review workshop was chaired by Mr. Shree Prasad Shrestha the chairperson of Myage RM. Mr. Padma Kiran Rana the chairperson of TOLI presented the project’s progresses from February to July 2026 in respect to inception workshop at RM, agreement with RM, project approval from Social Welfare Council (SWC), spices crop demand collection from farmer’s group, spices crops trainings for 9 farmer’s group, made available 1500 kg ginger & 1600 kg turmeric seed to 9 farmer’s group, 2 chilly nurseries establishment and seedling distribution, 2 slots of chemical hazardous and its mitigation training to 9 farmer’s group representatives, made available lime and copper sulfate to make Bordeaux mixture for 9 farmer’s group, provided 9 sprayers to 9 farmer’s group, agreement with Siddha Batasan community user’s group for digging pits, planting forest trees, weeding and taking care in degraded lands and public lands, made available 1375 forest, fodder, fruit trees to one community forestry user’s group and one farmer’s group, provided 270 Timur plants to the 3 farmer’s group in subsidized rates and excursion visit of RM and project representatives to turmeric processing plant in Chitwan.

Similarly, he explained about problems and challenges during project implementation periods and its mitigation measures in regards to expensive rates of ginger & turmeric in government sources than private farm, so it bought from private sectors. Similarly, during providing the ginger and turmeric seeds, the farmers who came first selected the best seed and late comer got relatively less quality and small size of seeds, so we provided responsibility to the leader farmer to provide seeds without selection. In few cases participants came delay and less numbers, farmer’s put less dense of mulching materials and delay interculture, which overcoming after advising to the respective farmers. Seedling of chilly growing in the nurseries not found as expected which address more skillfully in future. Lastly, the problem of rhizome rots occurred in few of the cases, the staff sprayed Bordeaux mixture immediately.

Mr. Dhan Bahadur Rana, the secretary of the TOLI and plant protection expert, presented the winter crops demand like garlic, onion, fenugreek and coriander as demanded by the farmers group.

During that period, Mr. Bal Krishna Ghimire the vice chairperson of the RM, Mr. Narayan Prasad Ghimire, the chief administration officer, chairpersons of the farmers group also were spoken praising the achievements of the project in respect to growing crops organically, monkey repelling crops, occurring diseases in few cases, turmeric processing planning and so on. The chief administration officer ensured to provide the financial support in term of kinds as equivalents to the amount mentioned in the agreement. The chairperson of the workshop Mr. Shree Prasad Shrestha said that there is challenging everywhere, he further summarized that it found no disease problem in turmeric whereas few in ginger crop. He requested to expand the program in all wards. Finally he concluded the workshop.
