Celebrated 53rd World Environment Day

TOLI including others 8 organizations jointly celebrated the 53rd World Environment Day on 5 June 2025 in Pokhara metropolitan city ward no. 17. Other organization were 1. Nature – human centered people’s movement Nepal (NHCPM), 2. International mountain museum (IMM), 3. Himalayan eye hospital (HEH), 4. Himalayan museum Tol Bikas Sanstha (HMTBS), 5. Himalayan Boarding School (HBS), 6. Himalayan museum mother group (HMMG) and 7. District Cooperative Association (DCA) Ltd. Kaski. About 90 participants from above organizations were gathered in the Himalaya eye hospital premises, where environment, health, sanitation, plastic reduction, plantation, garbage classification, climate change related written slogan paper caps were distributed to each of the participants, so that message could be disseminated in wider scales. Activities about world environment day was explained by Mr. Padma Kiran Rana the chairperson of the TOLI. Objectives to celebrate world environment day was as follows: i) To aware about the importance, necessity and utilization of the world environment day ii) To create an environment to work collaboratively in various issues in future iii) To aware about plastic related updates to the participants iv) To create an environment of committing to reduce plastic use and management of garbage in an individual level.

  • The program was commenced at 7 AM and completed at 9.15 AM. The participants cleaned either sides of the Munal Street, Museum Street and Himchuli street of Pokhara 17 with displaying the banner of world environment day. The participants were wore the cap written different 90 types of slogans. During cleaning time leader of the procession was spoke the slogan loudly and participants were repeated the same, so that resident people could hear and understand the messages of the slogan. During that period, Mr. Padma Kiran Rana informed the facts and figures of the plastics both world & national level. Two leaders of of each Tol was assigned to guide the participants for cleaning.
  • Concluding session was held in the premises of Himalayan Boarding School, where spoke Mr. Bindu Raj Sapkota, the chairperson of NHCPM Nepal, Mr. Durga Bahadur Shah “Baba” the advisor of TOLI, Mr. Sesha Bahadur Thapa the member of environment committee HE, Mr. Tek Narayan Paudel the principle of HBS and Ms. Manju Gurung the vice person of HMMG on the important, necessity and scope of the world environment day. Ms. Chandra Maya Gurung the chairperson of HMTBS and chairperson of concluding session was thanked to all the organizations and participants for making the program effective and she also expected similar solidarity in days to come. Ms. Radhika Kumari Shahi the ward chairperson of Pokhara 17 was the chief guest of the program. Mr. Padma Kiran Rana, the chairperson of TOLI facilitated the overall activities of the program.
